Alium explores another depth of expression from our ever-evolving Pinot Gris vineyard. Forty days of skin maceration roots Alium in an earthbound tone and bends Antiquum Farm's tropicality toward an herbaceous savory character, while the textural tension lends layers of density and intrigue.
TASTING NOTES
This is a more delicate and fruit-forward example of Alium where a similar fruit quality can be traced back to Aurosa and Daisy. The nose highlights wild strawberry, peach yogurt, sage, and a lovely dusty rustic quality. Savory garden herbs knit seamlessly with cherries, berries, and spice-poached quince. Smooth, fine-grained tannins dust the palate with a smooth, clean, and pleasing finish.
HARVEST NOTES
We believe this very well may be our best Pinot Gris line up we have produced to date. Sam’s second foray into this finicky and delicate grape varietal has seen him solidly finding his voice as the steward of the New World’s most compelling and delicious Pinot Gris. There are some significant changes to these wines, all of them are very positive. Sam continues to chart a path that honors our past work while finding a more nuanced and complex voice from Antiquum Farm.
